Pakistani FM, UN Chief talk about issues related to international peace

(MENAFN) Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar spoke by phone with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Sunday, focusing on issues related to international peace and security, according to a statement from Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry.

During their conversation, Dar reiterated Pakistan’s firm dedication to advancing global peace and security and highlighted the country’s enduring support for resolving conflicts through peaceful means.

Pakistan currently holds the rotating Presidency of the UN Security Council for July. In his role as both Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, Dar updated Guterres on key events Pakistan is organizing during its council presidency aimed at promoting vital global peace and security goals.

Both officials expressed their plans to meet in person next week in New York during Pakistan’s Security Council activities.

Dar also emphasized Pakistan’s ongoing support for the UN and its staff in fulfilling their duties, reaffirming Islamabad’s commitment to multilateralism and international cooperation, as outlined by the Foreign Ministry.
