Istanbul's TEKNOFEST Maritime Tech Festival Attracts 175,000 Visitors
The aquatic-focused event, designated Blue Homeland, operated Thursday through Sunday at Istanbul Shipyard Command facilities. Media functioned as the international communications partner for the festival.
Competition organizers received applications from 2,698 participating teams across three specialized categories: unmanned underwater systems, unmanned marine vehicles, and underwater rockets, TEKNOFEST officials announced in a formal statement.
The competitive segments highlighted cutting-edge technological innovations from participating teams nationwide.
Following rigorous preliminary evaluation rounds, 86 teams secured advancement to final competition phases, demonstrating exceptional technical merit in their respective categories.
Beyond competitions, TEKNOFEST's maritime edition featured comprehensive programming including educational seminars, technology exhibitions, interactive activities, expert presentations and live demonstrations.
The festival's flagship annual event is scheduled for September 17-21 at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport, where the full-scale TEKNOFEST will showcase Türkiye's broader technological capabilities across aviation, space, and emerging technology sectors.
The maritime edition's success reinforces TEKNOFEST's growing influence as a platform for fostering innovation and technological advancement within Türkiye's rapidly expanding defense and technology industries.
The event underscores Türkiye's strategic emphasis on developing autonomous maritime capabilities and underwater technologies as part of its broader national technology initiative.
