South Korea’s Leader Approval Rises to 67.3 Percent
The proportion of respondents expressing negative views on Lee’s handling of state affairs decreased by 3.3 percentage points, settling at 31.0 percent, according to data collected through computer-assisted telephone interviewing (CATI) conducted by local pollster Flower Research.
Meanwhile, support for the ruling liberal Democratic Party edged up by 0.6 percentage points to 50.3 percent. In contrast, the conservative opposition People Power Party’s backing slipped by 2.1 percentage points, landing at 26.5 percent.
Minor parties maintained modest support levels, with the left-leaning Rebuilding Korea Party polling at 3.9 percent and the right-leaning New Reform Party at 3.5 percent.
A separate survey by the same pollster using an automated response system (ARS) showed President Lee’s approval also rose, climbing 2.5 percentage points to 58.9 percent over the previous week.
Both the CATI and ARS polls surveyed 1,008 voters between Friday and Saturday, with a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points at a 95-percent confidence level.
