ADB Commits USD106.9M to Revamp Sri Lanka's Health Services
(MENAFN) The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a $106.9 million financing package to revamp Sri Lanka’s secondary healthcare services and reinforce its national disease prevention and response capabilities.
The funding consists of a $100 million loan complemented by a $6.9 million grant from the Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness, and Response Trust Fund.
The package is set to fund major hospital upgrades, expand access to specialized medical care, and streamline the connection between primary and secondary healthcare networks.
Key components of the initiative include modernizing laboratories, enhancing disease surveillance mechanisms, and establishing a centralized center for disease control. The program aims to build a more resilient and responsive health system as Sri Lanka continues to recover from recent public health crises.
