Survey Claims Decline in US Global Reputation, Falling Behind China, Russia

(MENAFN) A new international survey has found that perceptions of the United States’ global reputation have declined significantly, placing it behind both China and Russia in overall rating, according to reports.

The findings come from an annual study linked to the Alliance of Democracies Foundation, a Denmark-based organization founded by former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen. The index evaluates global perceptions of democracy and international influence across a large number of countries.

According to the latest results, the United States has experienced a notable drop in its score compared to previous years. The report indicates that its rating has shifted from a positive level two years ago to a negative figure in the most recent assessment, reflecting a decline in how respondents view the country’s global standing.

In comparison, China recorded a slightly positive rating, while Russia’s score remained negative but reportedly higher than that of the United States in this edition of the survey.

The index placed several Nordic countries, including Sweden, Norway, and Denmark, at the top of the rankings. Ukraine was listed among the lowest-ranked countries in the study.

The survey was conducted over several weeks earlier this year and included responses from tens of thousands of participants across nearly 100 countries. However, details on the specific weighting or methodology behind the index were not extensively outlined in the report.

The foundation’s leadership described the decline in US ratings as concerning, attributing the shift to recent geopolitical tensions and policy disagreements between Washington and several international partners, particularly in Europe.
