Israeli Strikes Reported in Lebanon Despite Ceasefire

(MENAFN) Reports indicate that Israeli strikes have damaged infrastructure in parts of Lebanon, including Beirut’s southern suburbs and areas in the south, despite the existence of a ceasefire, according to videos and eyewitness accounts cited by reports.

Footage shared from the Bourj al-Barajneh area in Beirut showed significant destruction, with a market-like structure heavily affected and surrounding buildings reduced to rubble. Some residential structures in the vicinity were also reported to have sustained severe damage. It remained unclear whether the destruction resulted from recent strikes or earlier incidents.

A local resident described fleeing the area after receiving warnings and later returning to find extensive damage to his home. “When the first warning arrived, we ran with our clothes,” he said. “When things calmed down, we returned to our home here and found this massive destruction.”

Separate footage from the Al-Saksakiyeh area near Tyre in southern Lebanon showed damage to a commercial site, including smoke rising from debris, burned vehicles, and scattered belongings. Bloodstains were also visible in the aftermath, according to the video material.

An eyewitness in the area said a drone strike prompted people to flee for safety, describing a sequence of explosions and shelling that followed shortly afterward. He claimed that several civilians who were nearby at the time were killed, though details could not be independently verified from the available reports.

The situation highlights continued instability in the region, with conflicting accounts and ongoing reports of strikes affecting civilian and commercial areas despite declared ceasefire arrangements.
