Barney’s Farm Launches Cannabis Clones for U.S. Growers

New offering by Barney’s Farm introduces rooted cannabis cuttings, expanding access to established genetics through a live-plant format.

WATSONVILLE, CA, UNITED STATES, November 4, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Barney’s Farm has launched its cannabis clone range for growers across the United States, introducing rooted cannabis cuttings developed from selected mother plants at its California cultivation facility. The new offering expands the company's existing cannabis genetics portfolio beyond seeds, providing growers with access to established plant genetics in a live-plant format.

The launch includes a selection of established cannabis strains, modern hybrids, and limited-edition genetics. Each clone comes from a selected female mother plant and undergoes rooting before shipment. The process allows growers to begin cultivation with an established cutting rather than starting with seed germination.

It also introduces a more consistent starting point for growers who want to work with a particular phenotype without completing the selection process associated with growing multiple plants from seed.

Cannabis Clones Introduce an Alternative to Seed-Based Cultivation

Cannabis clones are cuttings taken from established mother plants and rooted until they develop into independent plants. Unlike seeds, which produce genetically distinct individuals with some natural variation, clones retain the genetic characteristics of their source plant.

This approach provides growers with a starting plant whose genetic background and selected phenotype are already established. Characteristics such as growth structure, flowering period, and genetic lineage remain consistent with the mother plant.

The availability of rooted cuttings also removes the initial germination stage. Growers do not need to wait for seeds to sprout or complete the early seedling stage before beginning the next phase of cultivation. Since the cuttings originate from female mother plants, the clones retain the sex of their source plants.

California Cultivation Site Supports Clone Production

The company's clone production process takes place at its California cultivation site. Barney’s Farm sources cuttings from mother plants maintained at the facility, rather than relying entirely on independently propagated material from outside nurseries.

Plant health testing forms another part of the production process. According to Barney’s Farm, every mother plant undergoes testing for hop latent viroid (HLVd) before cuttings are taken.

HLVd is a plant pathogen associated with cannabis cultivation. Infected plants can show reduced growth and changes in flower development, although some infections produce no visible symptoms. The pathogen can spread through infected cuttings and contaminated cultivation equipment.
Testing mother plants before propagation adds an extra screening step in the clone production process. However, maintaining plant health requires continued sanitation and appropriate handling throughout cultivation and transportation.

Initial Clone Collection Includes Established and Modern Strains

The launch collection brings together cannabis genetics from different periods of the company's breeding history. The initial selection includes established strains and newer hybrid varieties.

The strains identified in the launch announcement include:
● Super Boof: A hybrid developed from Black Cherry Punch and Tropicana Cookies genetics.
● Jelly Cake: A cross involving Biscotti and Sunset Sherbet.
● Permanent Marker: A hybrid associated with Biscotti, Jealousy, and Sherb Bx genetics.
● Toad Venom: A cross involving Animal Face and Sin Mintz.
● Cherry Poppers: A hybrid developed from Lemon Kush and Cherry Z.
● Lemon Cherry Gelato: A combination of Sunset Sherbet and Girl Scout Cookies genetics.
● LFG: A cross involving Lemon Cherry Gelato and Gelato #41.
● Blue Dream: A well-known genetic combination of Blueberry and Super Silver Haze.
● Skunk #1: An established genetic line involving Afghan, Acapulco Gold, and Colombian Gold.

Mimosa x Orange Punch is another variety identified in the company's launch announcement, with availability listed as forthcoming.

The collection includes different genetic backgrounds and flowering periods. These characteristics allow growers to evaluate strains based on their cultivation requirements, available growing space, and preferred production schedules.

Packaging and Transportation for Live Cannabis Plants

Barney’s Farm has introduced dedicated packaging for its clone shipments. Each plant travels with its root area secured to limit movement during transportation. The packaging also incorporates a built-in LED lighting system to provide light during transit.

The company has structured clone deliveries around a weekly shipping schedule. Orders placed before midnight Eastern Time on Sunday are scheduled for dispatch on Monday through UPS Next Day Air. Orders received after the weekly cutoff move into the following shipment cycle.
The listed shipping charge is a flat rate of $50, regardless of the number of clones included in an order. Since clones are living plants, their condition during transportation and after arrival requires attention.

Ordering Requirements and State-Level Legal Considerations

Cannabis cultivation laws differ across the United States. Individual states establish their own requirements for home cultivation, licensed commercial operations, plant limits, and the possession of cannabis plants.

Consequently, the availability of live cannabis clones depends on the regulations applicable to the delivery destination. Federal cannabis restrictions and other applicable state and local requirements must also be considered.

Barney’s Farm indicates that shipping options reflect the locations where live cannabis plant deliveries are currently permitted. Customers are responsible for understanding the laws governing cannabis possession and cultivation in their respective jurisdictions before placing an order.

The company's ordering structure requires a minimum purchase of three clones. Customers can combine available strains within an order, subject to current inventory.
